Karat

Karat is another beautiful quarter horse mare at Kolt's Place. She was foaled in 2011 and stands at 15 hands. She is the dam of Nova, a stunning dun colt, and has had one other foal in the past. Karat is a wonderful mother who takes good care of her babies and teaches them how to behave. She is also very friendly and affectionate with people, especially those who bring her carrots and apples.

Karat is not a riding horse and for now will be kept as a broodmare. She has a gentle and calm temperament, but she also has a playful and curious personality. She likes to explore new places and learn new things. She is always eager to please her human friends and make them happy. Karat is a joy to be around and a solid foundation to the Kolt's Place family.

Karat enjoys being outside and roaming freely in the pasture. She hates being trapped in a stall, especially after she has eaten. She likes to have room to move around and stretch her legs. She also loves to be groomed and pampered by the staff and volunteers. She will often fall asleep in their arms while they brush her coat and mane.

Karat has a unique mane that gets twisted easily. As the legend says, fairies wander in search of good horses and when they find a horse they love, they braid the mane and use the knots as stirrups to ride the horse.  Judging by Karat’s mane, she is very loved!
